Son of EDA director dies in car crash

Dan Snow, 35, the only child of Bill Snow, executive director of the Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Association, was killed in a traffic accident Saturday morning near Santa Clarita.

Snow, who leaves a wife, Shawna, and five children, was driving on Highway 126 in the rain when a man in a pickup crossed the center divider and struck Snow's car head-on, said Cindy Owens, a family friend.

Snow was dead on arrival atHenry Mayo Hospital in Santa Clarita. The pickup driver had moderate injuries.

Snow was initially listed as a John Doe, Owens said. Shawna Snow filed a missing person report at3 a.m. Sunday and was notified of her husband's death four hours later, Owens said.

Snow grew up inNewbury Park and graduated from Newbury Park High School. He was a pastor at Evangelical Free Church for several years and worked for Youth for Christ.

He left Evangelical Free Church about two years ago to form a youth church in the Carpinteria area and was holding Sunday services at Skatestreet, Owens said.
